Introduction

Medical Development Division is responsible for policy setting and implementation, planning and development of medical services. Its objective is to provide comprehensive medical services that support primary health care, in accordance with policies and standards of Ministry of Health (MoH), by harnessing appropriate technology towards achieving improved health and quality of life to population. The functions of Division are carried out by 5 main sections/unit which are: Medical Services Development Section, Risk Management and Clinical Surveillance Section, Medical Professional Development Section, Malaysian Health Technology Assessment Section and Medical Aid Fund Technical Assessment Unit.

The division strives to ensure quality, comprehensive, efficient, effective, safe, technologically appropriate, easy to subscribe to, affordable medical services and responsive to the needs and expectations of the people.

Function

Plan the development of specialist services and medical management.
Determine policy requirements and formulate policies for the development of specialist services and medical management.
Ensure the application and appreciation of quality improvement in medical services.
Establish standards and norms of the delivery system to ensure quality and safe medical services.
Conduct health technology assessments to ensure the cost -effective, safe and appropriate use of health technology in the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
Plan and coordinate development activities and the advancement of the medical and allied health professions.
Collaborate and provide consulting services to agencies / departments within and outside the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
Provide technical input to the secretariat of the Medical Assistance Fund in the Finance Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia.
Coordinate, monitor and evaluate the implementation of health care services introduced from time to time.
